Mind-Blowing Easy Hooks for Your Critical Essays

I'm sure that you have been told that you should start your essays with a hook. Now, what is a hook?

Well, it is a statement used to grab the attention of your readers. You want your readers to be really hooked on your essay.

So, you have to start your essay with a line that makes your audience want to read your essay.

Now, there are many types of hook statements. So, I have made a list of a few examples for an essay writer.

Here it is.

Example 1: Use a Story

Ok, so I am not telling you to write a story. No! I am just saying that you can start your essay with one.

Let’s say your essay is about the life of Steve Jobs. Now, you can always start this with the story of his adoption.

Example: Apple began with the adoption of a little boy of Syrian descent into the house of Clara and Paul Jobs.

Example 2: Use Statistics

If you are not sure how exactly you want to hook your audience the simplest way to do it is by presenting statistics or you can always ask others to write my essay.

Whatever your topic is, look for relevant information on it and use it in the first line. With this hook example, you can easily catch the attention of most of your audience.

Example: The temperature of the earth’s surface has risen about 0.9 degrees Celsius ever since the 1800s.

Example 3: Use a Contradiction

If you would start your essay by making a contradictory statement then that would really attract your audience. Why? Because it will make them curious. So, they will automatically want to know more about your topic.

So, if you use a contradiction then that could attract your audience.

Example: I must be cruel to be kind.

This is a quote from the famous Shakespearean play Hamlet.

Example 4: Use a Definition

Ok, so definitions are usually used in scientific papers. But that does not mean that you cannot use one in a critical essay.

It all really depends on the topic you have chosen.

For instance, if you have chosen to analyze a character as a tragic hero then you can totally start off your paper by defining what a tragic hero is.

Example: According to Aristotle, a tragic hero is someone who makes an error in judgment and hence faces a misfortune.

Example 5: Use a Fact

Now, using a fact is different from using a statistic so don’t confuse this one with example 2.

A statistic depends on the number while a fact depends on how interesting it is. If you want to draw your audience in then you better use a fact that will interest them.

It should be something unusual so that the readers feel compelled to read your essay.

Example: Carrots were originally purple in color.

In case you need help in stating an interesting fact, hire a paper writing service now.

Example 6: Use a Dilemma

Here you need to present your readers with two different options. Also, make sure that none of those options are really desirable.

This will create a conflict in the minds of your readers. They won’t know what to think and will read your essay simply to get some answers for themselves.

This works well enough.

Example: The trolley problem is a famous ethical dilemma because it forces humans to question what they will do in extreme situations.

Well, here they are!

These are some examples that I thought could prove helpful to you.

But if you still don’t think you can get started on your essay then I have a quick suggestion. You can always contact a good essay writing service to write your essays for you.
