Simple and Easy Steps to Present Your Term Paper in ASA Format

The American Sociological Association has its own format for writing reports and research papers. I know, I know. You can’t understand what the deal is with so many different formats. It has a lot to do with different research societies having their own journals and publishing protocols. If you are not an aspiring published writer, you can be a student who needs help with the sudden preference that your professor is showing towards the ASA format even though you have never followed this format before.

Keep your worries aside. It is not as hard as it seems. If you have been writing according to other protocols and formats of academic writing, you can grasp this one pretty easily. The basic structure remains the same with a few changes here and there or you can ask others to write essay for me.

The Basics…

First, check that all your basics are in order. Double line spacing, left alignment of text, one-inch margin, Times New Roman (unless specified), 12 sized font, indented paragraphs, and all that jazz. If you have all these bases covered, you can safely move on to the nuances in ASA format. This part remains uniform across all formats. Take care that you adjust the spacing according to particular instructions that your professor may have given you.

The Title Page…

The first thing to consider is a title page. Like APA, ASA also has a separate title page. The title page carries the title of your research/essay, your name, the name of your educational institution, and the word count. This is the one thing that you may find to be a bit new but it is easy enough. All of this information will be centralized in the middle of your page. If you are still confused, consult an essay writing service now.

Running Headers and Page Numbers…

There will be a running header throughout the document that carries the title of your research or the course you are writing an essay for. The page numbers will be situated at the top left corner of each page.

Abstract and Keywords…

The next page will have an abstract (if needed). The heading for this abstract will be capitalized (as it is a first-level heading). The block letters will be left-aligned. The abstract will be followed by certain keywords that you can choose from the abstract. These keywords are the highlights of your abstract.

The Actual Beginning…

The next page is the beginning of your essay. This is from where you can finally start writing. All the headings in the ASA format will be aligned to the left (again, there are no centralized headings in ASA). All of the level one headings will be in block letters.

Level Two Headings…

Level two headings will be italicized but not in bold or block letters.

Level Three Headings…

The level three headings will just have an indent, otherwise, they will be the same as level two ones.

Endnotes (Another New Component)

Another relatively different component of this format is the endnotes. These come after the conclusion (always on the next page). You can add something that you want to add to your main text or cite some references over here in addition to the in-text citations.

On the last page, a level one heading of references rounds up your essay nicely. This is the end unless you have some appendices to attach which, as usual, will be attached at the end of the research paper.

If these different formats are giving you some unwarranted stress and you need relief from having to think about rules that don’t seem to matter to you, you can always hire a professional essay writer to do your work in time.
