Research papers tend to hurt more than normal essays. Am I right? And what hurts, even more, is that you have to write these papers in a very specific format.
I'm sure you have heard of them. MLA. APA. Chicago, etc. All these formats have a set of rules that are honestly unbearable.
Well, let me help a little. I will give you some steps that will make the writing of a research paper in MLA format very easy. All you have to do is follow these steps and your paper will be written in no time or you can ask others to write essay for me.
Here they are.
Step 1: Formatting
Ok, before you start writing, you will need to format your document. This means setting the margins and line spacing.
So, in MLA, the margins of a document are set to default which is 1 inch on all sides. So, you won’t have to change this but you can check this in “Layout”.
The second, the line spacing. MLA format is double-spaced which means a line spacing of “2.0”. The default is 1.0 so you will change this. Go to the “paragraph” section in “Home” for this.
Step 2: Basic Info
Your name, instructor’s name, course number, and date will be written in the left-hand corner of your document in exactly this order.
Take the cursor to the upper left corner and type in your name. Press enter then type the instructor’s name and so on.
When you have written all four of these things then you can move to give the running header to your document. If you are still confused, consult an essay writing service now.
Step 3: Running Header
An MLA document has a running header at the top right corner of your document. This header contains your last name and the page number.
To set this header, you will go to the “insert” section and look for the “header and footer section”.
Once there you will select “header” and choose a header that is situated at the top right of the page.
Remember, an academic paper will have a plain header.
Step 4: Headings
MLA has five types of headings. Actually, it has five levels of heading. So, the level 1 heading is the main one, and level 2 is the one inside level 1 and so on.
There is a specific way these headings are written. Let me tell you.
Level 1: Align-left and bold.
Level 2: Align-left and italics.
Level 3: Center and bold.
Level 4: Center and italics
And Level 5: Align-left and underlined.
There are no further levels in MLA.
Step 5: Sources and Referencing
Here is the really tricky part. When you are using sources in a research paper, there are two types of referencing.
First, you have to give the in-text citation which is given with the text. And second, you have to make a separate page of “Works Cited”.
The in-text citation in MLA is: (Author’s Last Name, Year of Publication).
For the “Works Cited” page use this format:
AuthorLastName, FirstName. Title of the Book Being Referenced. City Name: Name of Publisher, Year. Type of Medium (e.g., Print).
Step 6: Get Help
